Security Cameras For Sale: Tips For Buying

CCTV security cameras have become a standard for surveillance and security which are used to monitor places like banks, hospitals, airports, hotels, clubs, casinos, departmental stores etc. The usage of CCTV security cameras makes people feel more secure by enhancing the security of these places. Here are some points that should be considered while buying a CCTV camera:

Identify your needs: You should first determine your security needs and decide which type of security camera will satisfy your requirements. A wide range of CCTV security cameras are available in market today and you can choose one according to your budget. Things like area to be covered by security camera system and duration of surveillance should be kept in mind. Also, you should be clear about whether you need indoor or outdoor CCTV security system and whether it will be used in homes or at commercial level.

Go for CCTV camera that uses CCD technology: CCTV security systems make use of either CMOS or CCD (Charge Couple Device) Chips to generate images. CMOS technology is used by cheap and tiny cameras which produce images of poor quality. Good quality security cameras use CCD chips which are available in 1/4″, 1/3″ and 1/2″ sizes. The large sized chips produce high quality picture and are relatively more expensive.

Check the resolution of the CCTV camera: The resolution of a picture is measured by the number of TV lines in image generated by security camera. The greater number of lines mean better resolution which improves overall quality of image. The standard resolution found in most security cameras is generally 350-380 TV lines. The 400 TV lines imply good resolution and 500 TV lines exhibit the best resolution.

Confirm the type of lens used in CCTV camera: The kind of lens used in CCTV camera decides the viewing angle of the camera and hence determines the clarity of the image under varying conditions of light. The lenses used in security cameras can be monofocal or varifocal. The monofocal lenses have fixed focal length while varifocal lenses have ability to adjust between different focal lengths using single lens. The lenses may be fitted with manual iris or auto-iris. Auto iris can be suitably used in changing light conditions. You should select a lens that is fully compatible with your CCTV camera.

Getting the right security camera for your premises can add to the security and also helps the people in a place feel more secure. For more information on CCTV surveillance equipment, browse through http://www.closeoutcctv.com/
