How to protect your digital camera

If you got a digital camera for the holidays then you probably can’t wait to get out and start snapping away. Before you go, make sure you’re doing everything possible to protect it from weather, theft or even little children. The following information represents some simple tips to enhance the long life of digital camera.

Tips for Protecting Your Digital Camera

Protecting your camera from the elements

Extreme heat, cold, rain or snow can all damage your shiny new digital camera. To help protect your investment from the elements, try the following:

· Get the right bag. Invest a little money in a weatherproof camera bag and it will pay big dividends. Not only will it protect your digital camera from snow and rain, but it will even soften the blow from the occasional bump or drop.

· Cover up in the heat. If you have to keep your camera out in warm temperatures, cover it with a towel to protect it from the heat. Don’t use a dark towel as this will only absorb additional heat.

· Don’t freeze up. When the temperature is cold, try to keep your camera in your coat pocket or close to your body for warmth. Body heat can help maintain a safe temperature for your digital camera equipment.

Protecting your camera from theft

While nobody can prevent theft from occurring, there are several things you can do to greatly reduce the chance that your digital camera is lost or stolen. These tips include:

· Keep your camera under wraps. There’s no reason to let the world know that you’re carrying around a nice, new digital camera. Instead, put it another bag with a shoulder strap, carrying bag, or large purse.

· Keep the camera in your possession at all times. Leaving your camera out on a table or in a bag hanging from a nearby chair for even an instant is all thieves need to snatch it away. Keep it close!

· Get insurance. Homeowner’s or renter’s insurance can cover the loss of an expensive digital camera. Just be sure to ask your insurance representative about any details before you take your camera out on the road.

Protecting your camera from your family

Little kids love anything with buttons and knobs. So when they see your digital camera lying on the table, look out! They will snatch it up quicker than you can say “time out.” Don’t leave the camera out in highly trafficked areas around your home. And if you have infants or toddlers, don’t leave camera straps or cords hanging where curious little hands can grab them.

Help answer the question about digital camera for kids

Kids Digital Camera With Charger?
Do you know of any digital camera that is appropiate for kids but has a battery charger instead of AA batteries? That is the only gift my years old girl wants. She has a special talent on taking pictures but I don't want to spend my whole salary buying batteries.
Thanks a lot.
